Cancer Older People and Advocacy Service 2014 -2017

Cancer can bring bewildering changes to the lives of those diagnosed but can also have a major impact on family, carers and friends. ICANN have been supporting older people affected by cancer to make sure that healthcare professionals, social services, benefits and other agencies are involved where needed, understand and respect their wishes.

The aim was to support older people affected by cancer to make informed choices and decisions about investigations, treatment, care and day to day issues. Helping find out whatever they need to know, from information on cancer, through to what practical help is available locally.

ICANN successfully supported a number of people during this project and are currently exploring funding options to continue or extend this service in the future.
